Sometimes you read a book and all the while you think to yourself that you hate this story but the writing is so compelling that you continue to flip the pages and that is this book for me. Although Brian's narration opens "Mysterious Skin," he isn't the film's central character. The subject matter is really rough, because it deals with child abuse, but with deep understanding and humanity. This is a challenging and ultimately moving film that deserves to find a like-minded audience.
