I had heard from a couple of friends that they got a bit bored with this episode, so I had low expectations going in, but I actually enjoyed it a lot (maybe due to my low expectations).

She gets one of her droids to get her blaster rifle, and rifle in hand they slowly walk towards the ship. She regales the events from Nevarro — a.k.a. Easter Eggs 1. Mando says that he can tell them himself, at which point Toro realizes that 2 of the Tuskens are standing right next to him.

Thirdly, Fennec appears to be wearing an Imperial uniform when she's captured - one that looks a lot the uniform that the Imperial Special Forces used to wear - which presents a potential story connection between her and Moff Gideon. Mando agrees. Amy Sedaris was fantastic. A short while later, Mando comes back, riding the Dewback. One of the flares disengages poorly and Fennec shoots Mando off his speeder. At this point, Fennec asks Mando if he’s ever been to Nevarro. Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito’s character that we will see in a future episode)? After sundown, the pair set their plan in motion, taking off on their speedsters towards Fennec, racing as fast as they can and using flare blasters to disrupt visibility. Before she found baby Yoda, her character didn’t seem to care much about fixing Mando’s ship (Peli was just sitting around playing Sabacc with her droids), but after finding baby Yoda, she had a change of heart and started on the work, probably from realizing that Mando was just trying to do the best for “his kid”.

Suddenly, Toro walks out of the Razor Crest, with Peli and baby Yoda as his prisoners. Toro takes off on the speeder bike, back towards Mos Eisley.

They fly down and head to Mos Eisley spaceport, with one of the engines trailing smoke. But Mando hands her the contents of Toro’s wallet, which was quite a lot of credits. He tells her to keep her droids away from his ship. 14. Episode 5 of The Mandalorian, "The Gunslinger," may not have gifted us with endless Baby Yoda Drinking Soup memes, but it did give us a ton of New Hope-era Tatooine nods, as Mando found himself crash-landing on the famous sand planet while on the run from his fellow bounty hunters.

They get on their speeder bikes, and Mando gives Toro a flash charge, telling him to drive as fast as he can towards the rocks while they alternate shots, which should blind any scope temporarily.

Mando appears to surrender but fires the last flare, distracting Toro long enough to retrieve his blaster and kill the foolish young bounty hunter. What looks to be a Z-95 Headhunter ship is behind the Razor Crest, shooting at them and spraying blaster fire everywhere, some of which hits and damages Mando’s ship. He leaves and walks out onto the streets of Mos Eisley.

Meanwhile, Mando heads off in search of work — non-Guild, obviously — at the now-empty Mos Eisley Cantina, where the droid behind the bar tells him there’s no bounty work on Tatooine. Walking into his ship, he realizes that baby Yoda is gone. Toro is sitting in Han Solo’s booth, feet up on the table the same way Han was seated when he shot Greedo in A New Hope. In desperate need of repair, Mando lands the Razer Crest at a repair shop and almost immediately comes to blows with the mechanic, Peli Motto (a surprise appearance from Amy Sedaris), after her pit droids get a little too close to the ship. The EV droid tells him the Bounty Hunter guild no longer operates from Tatooine. 21. But Mando tells Toro to go and find the Dewback from earlier. The Mandalorian episode 5 ending introduced a mystery character, who was approaching Fennec Shand's dead body, and that unknown person could be Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon; he has yet to make his debut in the Disney+ TV series. After travelling for a while, Mando signals for them to stop and points ahead in the distance to where some Tusken Raiders are wandering amongst the dunes. It would be interesting if they are setting up Boba Fett as a future enemy, and it would be quite cool to see him in action against Mando. 4. 8. Mando steals Toro’s credits and gives them to Peli as payment for her services, interrupting her adorable comforting of Baby Yoda.

5. Speeding further out into the desert, Mando again signals for them to stop, quickly gets off his bike and runs up behind a dune telling Toro to stay down. Peli is using DUM-series Pit droids, seen in The Phantom Menace, as her assistants.

Peli picks him up and says that she is going to look after him and then charge Mando extra for doing so.

The Mandalorian. As they get closer, Mando is hailed by the Mos Eisley tower which is tracking the ship, and is told to land in bay 35. He seems worried while Mando is trying to deal with the problem. Mando’s ship is damaged while trying to evade a Bounty Hunter that was chasing them.

While Mando and Baby Yoda head back into the galaxy, back in the Tatooine desert, footsteps approach Fennec’s body. She yells out a warning for whoever is there to stay on the ship, but suddenly baby Yoda walks out looking confused.

Mando shoots at their feet, and they fold back up and drop to the ground. Amy Sedaris was fantastic in her role, even wearing her hair (possibly a wig?) Fennec knows Mando is the one who shot up the guild on Nevarro (in Episode 3) and convinces Toro that Mando would be a better target. He gets hit twice before he can reach safety behind the dune, but the Beskar protects him. Speeding off, Fennec starts to take aim, but Mando shoots out one of the charges which blinds her.

As it gets dark, Toro turns to Mando who is sleeping. She is about to finish him off with another shot while he is lying on the ground, but Toro has managed to sneak up behind her with his blaster out. 9. She starts taking notice of the state the ship is in and goes over everything that’s wrong with it, telling him it’s going to be expensive to fix. He walks into bay 35 after seeing the speeder outside, with his blaster out. First, she goads the young hunter, suggesting Mando’s the one actually calling the shots, which tricks him into admitting that he needs her capture to become a member of the Guild. Peli is given cuffs and told to cuff him, but as she goes to do that, Mando hands her a flash charge while Toro monologues about himself and how awesome he is.

Mando offers her 500 Imperial credits, but she doesn’t seem too happy. After a shootout damages the Razer Crest, the Mandalorian touches down on a familiar Star Wars planet and finds himself on another job. Mando turns a corner and walks past some stakes with Stormtrooper helmets impaled on them.

Baby Yoda is hiding behind some spare parts. 11.

Toro gets off his bike to look through his binocs, making some derogatory remarks about the Tusken Raiders. Toro wonders if it’s the target, but there is no way to tell from this distance, so Mando heads out to take a look, telling Toro to cover him. Peli is still holding baby Yoda outside the bay, and Toro notices, making a confused face. We see Speeder bikes, which were first seen in Return of the Jedi, 15.

My guess is Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon, who has still yet to make an appearance. She realizes that Mando has found a job and she walks out behind him as he comes out of the bay to meet Toro. Toro keeps going and makes it to the rocks thanks to Mando releasing one more charge in the air. Mando says: “She’s no good to us dead” (22:09), which is a nod to what Fett said to Vader in Empire Strikes Back: “He’s no good to me dead”. A Dewback is shown, same as the ones seen in A New Hope.

He joined the team as a freelancer back in 2016 and somehow managed to fail upwards. He also says Mando can keep the money. Sensing an opening, she tells him he has something valuable in his grasp — he just doesn’t know it yet. I thought that Mando leaving baby Yoda alone on the Razor Crest, while it was getting repaired, was a bit strange. So a lot of things to see in this episode that were either references or throwbacks to the Original Trilogy, as well as showing us how much things had changed since the fall of the Empire. At this point, Fennec asks Mando if he’s ever been to Nevarro. Mando complies. Baby Yoda was as cute as always.

Especially considering that he knows baby Yoda is quite curious and generally doesn’t seem to stay put. Toro shoots out another charge, but this one bounces along the ground and Fennec is able to take proper aim. Peli picks him up and consoles him as he seems a bit shaken from the loud noises (he has big ears after all).
