adelaide fringe location

This time of year is great in Adelaide - the streets are packed, everyone is excited and the weather is hot (real hot).

The smaller ones are swing-and-miss sometimes but it is worth going to a few to support real fringe artists and vagabonds.

In some ways it doesn't matter - the atmosphere is very exciting and you can go to lots of free events too. Arts venue hub Gluttony is a favourite destination for Adelaide Fringe, across two East End sites - a pop-up paradise in leafy Rymill Park/Murlawirrapurka, plus the stately Masonic Lodge at the eastern end of North Terrace.

My recommendation would be to seek out Tuxedo Cat - a pop-up venue that moves every Fringe.

Rundle mall has a box office set up specifically for ticket and merchandise sales from December the year before. In the lead up to the fringe in Feb and throughout the festival, there are buskers and preview shows in the mall which gives the city an atmosphere that you just can not describe.

On the other hand - it is expensive to take part in the Adelaide Fringe and there is also a whole lot of total dross in the program. Art, events and pop-up spaces fill every nook, waiting to be found. Public transport is fine but it depends where you live and what time you're going. Website +61 8 8100 2000.
